Martingale Collar - Size Guide

A martingale collar fits over the dog's head without the use of a buckle. The purpose of this style of collar is to stop dogs from wriggling out of their collars. Do not leave dogs unsupervised when using a martingale collar.

To ensure a correct fitting collar, measure your dog's neck circumference where the collar usually sits (A) and compare it to the size chart below.

FAQs

Is a Martingale collar right for my dog?

Martingale collars are designed for dogs who may slip out of regular buckle-collars. Dogs with a similar head and neck widths may benefit from a Martingale collar, such as Whippets, Greyhounds and Jack Russells.

How should a Martingale collar fit?

As Martingale collars have no buckle, adjusting the collar to the correct size is critical. A Martingale collar needs to be adjusted so it can comfortably fit over the head but remain snug enough to only allow a 2-finger gap between the collar and your dog's neck.

How do I adjust my dog’s collar?

Locate the adjustment slider. Next, ‘push’ the webbing from one side to create a loop of excess webbing inside the adjuster. Then ‘pull’ the excess webbing out the other side.

How do I choose a collar size?

Please refer to the size guide, near the size selection. We highly recommend measuring your dog’s neck circumference before buying any collar to ensure safety and comfort.

What are your collars made from?

We use premium nylon webbing which is super soft but durable. Our design range features woven ribbon designs sewn on top of the webbing.

I regularly walk my dog at night, which collar or harness should I choose?

Our reflective range uses the same reflective material found on high-visibility vests. We recommend dogs wear a reflective product when being walked at night or early morning.

Can my dog swim in these collars?

Yes, our nylon collars are suitable for dogs that swim in saltwater, freshwater or chlorinated water. Our D-rings are made from stainless steel which won’t rust or corrode. Over time, the webbing may fade. For regular swimmers, consider our waterproof collars.

Red Dingo nylon products are machine washable (max. 40°C/104°F). We recommend using a wash bag. Airdry only. Do not tumble dry. Do not bleach. Do not iron.
